About eight days after these sayings, He took along Peter, John, and James, and went up on the mountain to pray.And while He was praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming.And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah,who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure, which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.Now Peter and his companions had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who were standing with Him.And as these two men were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus,“ Master, it is good that we are here; and let’s make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”— not realizing what he was saying.But while he was saying this, a cloud formed and began to overshadow them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.And then a voice came from the cloud, saying,“ This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!”And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent, and reported to no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.

Six days later, Jesus* took with Him Peter and James, and his brother John, and* led them up on a high mountain by themselves.And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light.And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.Peter responded and said to Jesus,“ Lord, it is good that we are here. If You want, I will make three tabernacles here: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice from the cloud said,“ This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!”When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified.And Jesus came to them and touched them and said,“ Get up, and do not be afraid.”And raising their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone.

And He allowed no one to accompany Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.

And He* took with Him Peter, James, and John, and began to be very distressed and troubled.

So Moses got up along with Joshua his servant, and Moses went up to the mountain of God.

Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; They will see a distant land.

And it came about, when Moses was coming down from Mount Sinai( and the two tablets of the testimony were in Moses’ hand as he was coming down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because of his speaking with Him.So when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to approach him.Then Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers in the congregation returned to him; and Moses spoke to them.Afterward all the sons of Israel came near, and he commanded them to do everything that the Lord had spoken to him on Mount Sinai.When Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face.But whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he would take off the veil until he came out; and whenever he came out and spoke to the sons of Israel what he had been commanded,the sons of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone. So Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with Him.

Now after that, He appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking along on their way to the country.

and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and wrapped around the chest with a golden sash.His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire.His feet were like burnished bronze when it has been heated to a glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters.In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength.When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying,“ Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last,

For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of dry ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we would look at Him, Nor an appearance that we would take pleasure in Him.

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled, and no place was found for them.

So Ahab went up to eat and drink. But Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bent down to the earth and put his face between his knees.

who will transform the body of our lowly condition into conformity with His glorious body, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.

who, as He already existed in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,but emptied Himself by taking the form of a bond servant and being born in the likeness of men.And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death: death on a cross.

This is the third time that I am coming to you. On the testimony of two or three witnesses every matter shall be confirmed.

Now when Jesus heard about John, He withdrew from there in a boat to a secluded place by Himself; and when the people heard about this, they followed Him on foot from the cities.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

And He answered and said,“ Elijah is coming and will restore all things;but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. So also the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.”Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist.

But if the ministry of death, engraved in letters on stones, came with glory so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was,how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory?For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness excel in glory.For indeed what had glory in this case has no glory, because of the glory that surpasses it.

Now it was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer with God.

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Then he laid out the wood, and he cut the ox in pieces and placed it on the wood.

For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such a declaration as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory:“ This is My beloved Son with whom I am well pleased”—and we ourselves heard this declaration made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
