眾人聽了這些話，心如刀割，就向司提反咬牙切齒。

那時門徒私下上耶穌跟前來，說：『為甚麼我們不能趕它呢？』耶穌對他們說：『是因為你們的信心小；我實在告訴你們，如果你們有信心像一粒芥菜種，就是對這座山說：「你從這裏挪到那裏」，它也必挪去的；並且在你們、必沒有一件事是不可能的。』

忽有一個迦南婦人從那境內出來，嚷着說：『主啊，大衛的子孫哪，可憐我；我女兒被鬼附得很苦呢。』

耶穌進了屋子，門徒私下問他說：『為甚麼我們不能趕它呢？』他對他們說：『只有用禱告；若不然，這一族類就總不能出來。』

他喊叫，大大地抽瘋，就出來了。孩子就像死人一般，以致眾人都說：『他死了。』

靈拿住他，他就忽然喊叫；靈使他抽瘋流着口沫，重重地挫傷他，硬不離開他。我求了你的門徒把靈趕出來，他們卻不能。』

而本國的子民竟被趕到外邊黑暗裏去；在那裏必有哀哭和切齒。』

惡人看見便惱恨；他必咬牙切齒，而身歸熔化；惡人的心願終於滅沒。

以利沙對基哈西說：『你束上腰，手裏拿着我的扶杖走；若遇見人，不要向他祝福請安；人若向你祝福請安，你也不要回答；要把我的扶杖放在孩子臉上。』孩子的母親說：『我指着永活的永恆主、也指着你的性命、來起誓，我一定不離開你。』以利沙就起身，跟着她去。基哈西在他們前頭先去；他把扶杖放在孩子臉上，卻沒有聲音，也沒有注意的樣子；基哈西迎着以利沙回來，告訴他說：『孩子還沒有醒過來。』

他的忿怒撕裂了我，放我墮地，向我咬牙切齒；敵對我的、以銳利怒眼看我。

我帶他上你門徒這裏來，他們卻不能治好他。』

他們就帶他來找耶穌。一見耶穌，靈立即使他重重地抽瘋；他便仆倒在地上打滾，直流口沫。

海裏的狂浪，翻騰起自己可恥的沫子來！游蕩的星，有黑暗之幽冥永遠給他們保留着！
