他們聽了這些話就勃然大怒，向司提反咬牙切齒。

門徒們悄悄地前來問耶穌：「我們為什麼不能趕出那鬼魔呢？」耶穌回答說：「因為你們小信。我確實地告訴你們：如果你們有像一粒芥菜種子那樣的信仰，就是對這座山說『從這裡移到那裡！』它也將移開；而且在你們，將沒有不可能的事。

這時候，忽然來了一個住在那地區的迦南婦人，她呼叫說：「主啊，大衛的後裔，可憐我吧！我的女兒有鬼魔附身，痛苦萬分。」

耶穌進了房子，他的門徒們就悄悄地問他：「我們為什麼不能趕出那邪靈呢？」耶穌對他們說：「對這一類的邪靈，如果不藉著禱告和禁食，就不能趕出去。」

邪靈喊叫一聲，使孩子劇烈地抽瘋，就出來了。孩子變得像死人那樣，所以許多人說：「他死了。」

你看，邪靈抓住他，忽然喊叫起來，又使他抽瘋，口吐白沫；邪靈折磨著他，就是不離開。我求過你的門徒們，要他們驅趕那邪靈，可是他們不能。」

但那些『天國的兒女』，卻將被丟在外面的黑暗裡。在那裡將有哀哭和切齒。」

惡人看見就惱怒，他們咬牙切齒終必消逝；他們的願望也要消亡。

我帶他到你的門徒們那裡，可是他們不能使他痊癒。」

他們就把他帶到耶穌面前來。邪靈一見耶穌，立刻使孩子劇烈地抽瘋，倒在地上打滾，口吐白沫。

是海中的狂浪，湧出自己可恥的泡沫；是流蕩的星辰，有漆黑的幽暗永遠為他們存留。
