有一個迦南的婦人從那地區出來，喊著說：“主啊，大衛的子孫，可憐我吧！我的女兒被鬼附得很苦。”

耶穌進了屋子，門徒私下問他說：“為甚麼我們不能把那污鬼趕出去呢？”耶穌對他們說：“這一類的鬼，非用禱告是趕不出去的。”

那鬼大聲喊叫，使孩子重重地抽了一陣瘋，就出來了。孩子好像死了一樣，所以許多人都說：“他死了！”

你看，污靈一抓住他，他就忽然喊叫，並且抽瘋，口吐白沫；污靈又折磨糟踐他，不肯放過他。我求過你的門徒，把他趕出去，他們卻辦不到。”

但本來要承受天國的人，反被丟在外面黑暗裡，在那裡必要哀哭切齒。”

惡人看見就惱怒，他必咬牙切齒，身心耗損；惡人的心願必幻滅。

神人對基哈西說：“你束上腰，手裡拿著我的手杖前去；不論遇見的是誰，都不要向他問安；若是有人向你問安，你也不要回答他，只要去把我的手杖放在孩子的臉上。”孩子的母親說：“我指著永活的耶和華和你的性命起誓，我決不會離開你。”神人只好起身隨她而去。基哈西在他們前面去了，把手杖放在孩子的臉上，可是沒有聲音，也沒有反應；於是他回來迎著以利沙，告訴他說：“那孩子還沒有醒過來。”

他的怒氣撕裂我，攻擊我；他向我咬牙切齒，我的敵人以銳利的眼光看著我。

我帶他去見你的門徒，他們卻不能醫好他。”

他們就把孩子帶到他跟前。那鬼一見耶穌，就立刻使孩子抽了一陣瘋，倒在地上，流著唾沫打滾。

是海中的狂浪，濺起了自己可恥的泡沫；是流蕩的星，有漆黑的幽暗永遠為他們存留。
