你們要想起耶穌還在加利利時怎樣對你們講過：人子必須被送交在罪人手裏，被釘十字架，第三天復起。』

永恆主對撒母耳說：『關於人民向你說的一切話你只管依從，因為他們不是棄絕你，乃是棄絕了我作王來管理他們。

又說：『人子必須受許多苦，從長老祭司長和經學士手下被棄掉，並且被殺，第三天就得甦活起來。』耶穌又對眾人說：『人若想要跟着我，就當棄絕自己，天天拿起他的十字架來跟從我。因為凡想要救自己性命的，必失掉性命；凡為我失掉自己性命的，必救得真性命。人贏得全世界、卻失掉自己或賠上自己，有甚麼益處呢？凡以我和我的為可恥的，人子帶着他與父和眾天使的榮耀來臨的時候，也必以這人為可恥。我老實告訴你們，在此地站着的、一定有人在沒有嘗着死以前、就可以看見上帝之國的榮耀。』
