約拿怎樣三日三夜在大魚的腹中，人子也要照樣三日三夜在地裡。

耶和華卻安排了一條大魚，把約拿吞下。約拿就在魚腹中三日三夜。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為2:1）

他被藐視，被人拒絕，是個多受痛苦，熟悉病患的人。他像個被人掩面不看的人一樣；他被藐視，我們也不重視他。

“你們頸項剛硬、心和耳都未受割禮的人哪！你們時常抗拒聖靈，你們的祖先怎樣，你們也怎樣。有哪一個先知，你們的祖先不迫害呢？你們殺了那些預先宣告那義者要來的人，現在又把那義者出賣了，殺害了。

他不在這裡，已經復活了。你們應當記得他還在加利利的時候，怎樣告訴你們，說：‘人子必須被交在罪人手裡，釘在十字架上，第三日復活。’”

耶和華對撒母耳說：“眾民對你所說的一切，你只管聽從，因為他們不是厭棄你，而是厭棄我，不要我作他們的王。

主對他們說：“這就是我從前與你們同在的時候，對你們說過的話：摩西的律法、先知書和詩篇上所記關於我的一切事，都必定應驗。”

你們今天卻離棄了那位拯救你們脫離一切災難和困苦的神，竟對他說：‘求你立一個王統治我們。’現在你們要按著你們的支派和家族，站在耶和華面前。”

又說：“人子必須受許多苦，被長老、祭司長，和經學家棄絕、殺害，第三日復活。”耶穌又對眾人說：“如果有人願意跟從我，就當捨己，天天背起他的十字架來跟從我。凡是想救自己生命的，必喪掉生命；但為我犧牲自己生命的，必救了生命。人若賺得全世界，卻喪失自己，或賠上自己，有甚麼好處呢？凡是把我和我的道當作可恥的，人子在自己與父並聖天使的榮耀裡降臨的時候，也必把他當作可恥的。我實在告訴你們，站在這裡的，有人在沒有嘗過死味以前必定要看見神的國。”

亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的神，就是我們祖宗的神，榮耀了他的僕人耶穌。這位耶穌，你們把他送交官府。彼拉多本來定意要放他，你們卻當著彼拉多的面拒絕他。你們把那聖者義者拒絕了，反而要求給你們釋放一個殺人犯。你們殺了那‘生命的創始者’，神卻使他從死人中復活。我們就是這件事的見證人。

他們聚集在加利利的時候，耶穌對門徒說：“人子將要被交在人的手裡，他們要殺害他，第三天他要復活。”他們就很憂愁。

從那時起，耶穌開始向門徒指出，他必須往耶路撒冷去，受長老、祭司長和經學家許多的苦害，並且被殺，第三天復活。彼得就把他拉到一邊，責怪他說：“主啊，千萬不可這樣，這事一定不會發生在你身上的。”耶穌轉過來對彼得說：“撒但！退到我後面去！你是絆腳石，因為你不思念神的事，只思念人的事。”於是耶穌對門徒說：“如果有人願意跟從我，就當捨己，背起他的十字架來跟從我。凡是想救自己生命的，必喪掉生命；但為我犧牲生命的，必得著生命。人若賺得全世界，卻賠上自己的生命，有甚麼好處呢？人還能用甚麼換回自己的生命呢？人子要在父的榮耀裡和眾天使一同降臨，那時他要照各人的行為報應各人。我實在告訴你們，站在這裡的，有人在沒有嘗過死味以前，必要看見人子帶著他的國降臨。”
