When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry.During that time the devil came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”But Jesus told him,“ No! The Scriptures say,‘ People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

The eyes of all look to you in hope; you give them their food as they need it.

Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!

When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion.“ Don’t cry!” he said.

The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.

So the people came streaming from the village to see him.Meanwhile, the disciples were urging Jesus,“ Rabbi, eat something.”But Jesus replied,“ I have a kind of food you know nothing about.”“ Did someone bring him food while we were gone?” the disciples asked each other.Then Jesus explained:“ My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.

Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her,“ Please give me a drink.”He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food.

“ So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.

But Jesus said,“ No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.”

Jesus felt sorry for them and touched their eyes. Instantly they could see! Then they followed him.

The spirit often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us, if you can.”

Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people.
