He replied,“ Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:“‘ These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

He replied,“ Isaiah was right. He prophesied about you people who pretend to be good. He said,“‘ These people honor me by what they say. But their hearts are far away from me.

And he said to them,“ Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,“‘ This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;

Jesus replied,“ You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote,‘ These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

He answered them,“ Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

But He said to them,“ Rightly did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written:‘ This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me.

He answered and said to them,“ Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:‘ This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.

And he said unto them, Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, But their heart is far from me.

He answered them,“ Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.

He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with[ their] lips, but their heart is far from me.

斯輩口中承認天主、而其行為實否認天主、悖逆不順、自絕於善、可惡莫甚焉。

虛偽之徒、善夫意灑亞之預言爾曹曰：「斯民敬我以唇舌、其心與我隔天淵；既傳世教為寶訓、向我朝拜亦徒然。」』

哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！爾曹向眾緊閉天國、己既不進、又阻人之進。

兄弟乎、或曰我有信德；苟無善行、亦有何益？徒信詎有濟乎？設有兄弟或姊妹衣食匱乏、而爾謂之曰：『安心以去、吾信汝必得溫飽；』而不給以切身所需之物、則亦何所裨益。是知徒信而無行、則其信、必索然而無生氣也。

外飾虔誠之貌內實麻木不仁。此類之人、務望吾兒避之若浼。

耶穌謂之曰：『爾法利塞人、惟滌盃盤外表、而爾之內心、實藏垢納污。無知之人乎、夫彼創造外物者、非即創造內心者乎？第能心存慈善、施人以德、則物之於爾、無不潔矣。哀哉法利塞！蓋爾曹察察於薄荷芸香園蔬什一之貢、而獨漠然於公義及愛慕天主之道。彼固宜行此亦不可忽也。哀哉法利塞！蓋爾於會堂喜居首席、於市衢樂受人敬也。哀哉爾曹！正如掩埋之墓穴、人履其上而不之覺也。』

惟予洞悉爾等、知爾心中不存愛主之情也。

予若未在眾前行人所不能行之靈蹟、則彼猶可無咎、今彼既睹之、而依然惡予與吾父也！

爾所為者、正爾父之所為耳！』若輩應曰：『吾儕非私生子也！吾儕惟有一父、天主是已！』耶穌曰：『倘天主真為爾父、則宜愛予矣。蓋予之來、乃出自天主、非予自來、有遣之者也。

耶穌曰：『予若自榮、亦何榮之有？榮予者吾父也！吾父非他、即爾自言為爾天主者是。雖然、爾實末嘗識之、惟予則識；予若云不識、是亦妄而已矣、無異於爾之妄也。顧予實識之、且亦篤守其道也。

彼等所見未能一致、遂散。然其未散之前、葆樂曾為一言曰：『善夫聖神藉先知意灑雅向我祖之所言也！
