故法利塞人及經生質耶穌曰：『爾徒不遵古人遺規、而以俗手取食何也？』

So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus,“ Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?”

So the Pharisees and the teachers of the law questioned Jesus.“ Why don’t your disciples live by what the elders teach?” they asked.“ Why do they eat their food with‘ unclean’ hands?”

And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him,“ Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?”

So the Pharisees and teachers of religious law asked him,“ Why don’t your disciples follow our age old tradition? They eat without first performing the hand washing ceremony.”

So the Pharisees and the scribes asked him,“ Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders, instead of eating bread with ceremonially unclean hands?”

And the Pharisees and the scribes* asked Him,“ Why do Your disciples not walk in accordance with the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unholy hands?”

Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him,“ Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?”

And the Pharisees and the scribes ask him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with defiled hands?

And they saw that some of Jesus’ disciples ate their bread with unclean hands, that is, unwashed.( For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they perform a ritual washing, holding fast to the tradition of the elders.

“ Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat.”

But we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any brother who lives an undisciplined life and not according to the tradition they received from us.

They have been informed about you– that you teach all the Jews now living among the Gentiles to abandon Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs.

take them and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself live in conformity with the law.

For we hear that some among you are living an undisciplined life, not doing their own work but meddling in the work of others.

When the experts in the law and the Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, they said to his disciples,“ Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”When Jesus heard this he said to them,“ Those who are healthy don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. So they came to Jesus and said,“ Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don’t fast?”

And he is also the father of the circumcised, who are not only circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham possessed when he was still uncircumcised.
