对洁净的人而言，一切都是洁净的；对污秽不信的人而言，什么都不洁净，连他们的思想和良心都是污秽的。

就对他们说：“你们都知道，按照犹太人的传统，我们不可以和外族人来往。但上帝已经指示我不可把任何人视为污秽不洁。

因为上帝的国不是关乎吃什么喝什么，而是关乎公义、平安和圣灵所赐的喜乐。

耶稣说：“你们还不明白吗？

彼得却说：“主啊！这可不行！我从未吃过任何污秽不洁之物。”那声音又一次对他说：“上帝已经洁净的，你不可再称之为不洁净。”这样一连三次之后，那块布就被收回天上去了。

因为这些不过是关于饮食和各样洁净礼仪的外在规条，等新秩序的时代一到，便不再有效了。

我们只须写信吩咐他们远避被偶像玷污之物，不可淫乱，不可吃血和勒死的牲畜。因为自古以来，在各城都有人宣讲摩西的律法，每逢安息日，都有人在会堂里诵读。”

我说，‘主啊，这可不行！我从未吃过任何污秽不洁之物！’那从天上来的声音又说，‘上帝已经洁净的，你不可再称之为不洁净。’这样一连三次，然后一切都被收回天上去了。

你们这些毒蛇的后代！你们心里邪恶，又怎能讲出好话呢？因为心里充满的，口里自然会说出来。

你们不要被五花八门的异端邪说勾引了去，因为心中得到力量是靠上帝的恩典，而不是靠饮食上的礼仪，这些礼仪从未使遵守的人受益。

禁止人结婚和吃某些食物。其实那些食物是上帝创造的，为了让相信并且明白真理的人存感谢的心领受。上帝所造的一切都是美好的，若以感恩的心去领受，就无需任何禁忌，因为上帝的道和人的祷告可以使食物圣洁。

耶稣说：“你们也不明白吗？你们不知道吗？从外面进去的，不会使人污秽，因为不能进入他的心，只能进他的肠胃，最后会排出来，也就是说所有的食物都是洁净的。从人里面发出来的才使人污秽，因为从里面，就是从人的心里能够生出恶念、苟合、偷盗、谋杀、通奸、贪婪、邪恶、诡诈、放荡、嫉妒、毁谤、骄傲、狂妄。这一切恶事都是从里面生出来的，能使人污秽。”
