Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said,“ Listen to me, everyone, and understand this.

And when he had called all the people[ unto him], he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one[ of you], and understand:

Then he called the crowd again and said to them,“ Listen to me, everyone, and understand.

He called all the multitude to himself, and said to them,“ Hear me, all of you, and understand.

Jesus called the crowd to him and said,“ Listen and understand.

He said,“ Go and tell this people:“‘ Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’

He said to the crowd:“ When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say,‘ It’s going to rain,’ and it does.And when the south wind blows, you say,‘ It’s going to be hot,’ and it is.Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don’t know how to interpret this present time?“ Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?

Elijah went before the people and said,“ How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.

You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.

Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet.“ Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.

Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who live in this world,both low and high, rich and poor alike:

Micaiah declared,“ If you ever return safely, the Lord has not spoken through me.” Then he added,“ Mark my words, all you people!”

Take notice, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?

While all the people were listening, Jesus said to his disciples,“ Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.”

Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying:“ Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
