Again Jesus called the crowd to him. He said,“ Listen to me, everyone. Understand this.

And when he had called all the people[ unto him], he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one[ of you], and understand:

Then he called the crowd again and said to them,“ Listen to me, everyone, and understand.

He called all the multitude to himself, and said to them,“ Hear me, all of you, and understand.

Jesus called the crowd to him. He said,“ Listen and understand.

So he said,“ Go and speak to these people. Tell them,“‘ You will hear but never understand. You will see but never know what you are seeing.’

Jesus spoke to the crowd. He said,“ You see a cloud rising in the west. Right away you say,‘ It’s going to rain.’ And it does.The south wind blows. So you say,‘ It’s going to be hot.’ And it is.You pretenders! You know how to understand the appearance of the earth and the sky. Why can’t you understand the meaning of what is happening right now?“ Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?

Elijah went there and stood in front of the people. He said,“ How long will it take you to make up your minds? If the Lord is the one and only God, worship him. But if Baal is the one and only God, worship him.” The people didn’t say anything.

You who are childish, get some good sense. You who are foolish, set your hearts on getting it.

So Philip ran up to the chariot. He heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet.“ Do you understand what you’re reading?” Philip asked.

Hear this, all you nations. Listen, all you who live in this world.Listen, people, whether you are ordinary or important. Listen, people, whether you are rich or poor.

Micaiah announced,“ Do you really think you will return safely? If you do, the Lord hasn’t spoken through me.” He continued,“ All of you people, remember what I’ve said!”

You who aren’t wise, pay attention. You foolish people, when will you become wise?

All the people were listening. Jesus said to his disciples,“ Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in long robes. They love to be greeted with respect in the market. They love to have the most important seats in the synagogues. They also love to have the places of honor at banquets.They take over the houses of widows. They say long prayers to show off. God will punish these men very much.”

During that time a crowd of many thousands had gathered. There were so many people that they were stepping on one another. Jesus spoke first to his disciples.“ Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees,” he said.“ They just pretend to be godly.
