And he replied: Go! Say to these people: Keep listening, but do not understand; keep looking, but do not perceive.

He also said to the crowds,“ When you see a cloud rising in the west, right away you say,‘ A storm is coming,’ and so it does.And when the south wind is blowing, you say,‘ It’s going to be hot,’ and it is.Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but why don’t you know how to interpret this present time?“ Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?

Then Elijah approached all the people and said,“ How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him. But if Baal, follow him.” But the people didn’t answer him a word.

Learn to be shrewd, you who are inexperienced; develop common sense, you who are foolish.

When Philip ran up to it, he heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said,“ Do you understand what you’re reading?”

Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who inhabit the world,both low and high, rich and poor together.

But Micaiah said,“ If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me.” Then he said,“ Listen, all you people!”

Pay attention, you stupid people! Fools, when will you be wise?

While all the people were listening, he said to his disciples,“ Beware of the scribes, who want to go around in long robes and who love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the places of honor at banquets.They devour widows’ houses and say long prayers just for show. These will receive harsher judgment.”

Meanwhile, a crowd of many thousands came together, so that they were trampling on one another. He began to say to his disciples first,“ Be on your guard against the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
