Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits.

Now go; I’m sending you out like lambs among wolves.Don’t carry a money-bag, traveling bag, or sandals; don’t greet anyone along the road.Whatever house you enter, first say,‘ Peace to this household.’If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.Remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they offer, for the worker is worthy of his wages. Don’t be moving from house to house.When you enter any town, and they welcome you, eat the things set before you.Heal the sick who are there, and tell them,‘ The kingdom of God has come near you.’When you enter any town, and they don’t welcome you, go out into its streets and say,‘ We are wiping off as a witness against you even the dust of your town that clings to our feet. Know this for certain: The kingdom of God has come near.’I tell you, on that day it will be more tolerable for Sodom than for that town.

Summoning the Twelve, He gave them power and authority over all the demons, and power to heal diseases.Then He sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.“ Take nothing for the road,” He told them,“ no walking stick, no traveling bag, no bread, no money; and don’t take an extra shirt.Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.If they do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”So they went out and traveled from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing everywhere.

When daylight came, He summoned His disciples, and He chose 12 of them— He also named them apostles:Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called the Zealot;Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts.For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up.

Then He went up the mountain and summoned those He wanted, and they came to Him.He also appointed 12— He also named them apostles— to be with Him, to send them out to preach,

Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses, and He said,“ Isn’t Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, he is on his way now to meet you. He will rejoice when he sees you.You will speak with him and tell him what to say. I will help both you and him to speak and will teach you both what to do.

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;

Summoning His 12 disciples, He gave them authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out and to heal every disease and sickness.These are the names of the 12 apostles: First, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.Jesus sent out these 12 after giving them instructions:“ Don’t take the road leading to other nations, and don’t enter any Samaritan town.

Don’t take along gold, silver, or copper for your money-belts.Don’t take a traveling bag for the road, or an extra shirt, sandals, or a walking stick, for the worker is worthy of his food.“ When you enter any town or village, find out who is worthy, and stay there until you leave.Greet a household when you enter it,and if the household is worthy, let your peace be on it. But if it is unworthy, let your peace return to you.If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that house or town.

After this, the Lord appointed 70 others, and He sent them ahead of Him in pairs to every town and place where He Himself was about to go.

I will empower my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, dressed in sackcloth.”
