門徒搖櫓，大約行了五六公里，突然看見耶穌在水面上朝他們的船走來，他們很害怕。耶穌對他們說：「是我，不要怕。」

耶穌說：「你們為什麼憂心忡忡？為什麼心存疑惑呢？你們看我的手和腳，就知道真的是我。來摸摸看，鬼魂沒有骨和肉，你們看！我有。」說完，便伸出手和腳給他們看。門徒又驚又喜，半信半疑。耶穌問：「你們這裡有吃的嗎？」

當天晚上，即週日晚上，門徒因為害怕猶太人，把房門都關上了。忽然，耶穌來了，站在他們當中，對他們說：「願你們平安！」說完，讓他們看祂的手和肋旁。門徒看見主，十分歡喜。
