The apostles said to the Lord,“ Increase our faith!”

Give a shepherd’s care to God’s flock among you, exercising oversight not merely as a duty but willingly under God’s direction, not for shameful profit but eagerly.And do not lord it over those entrusted to you, but be examples to the flock.

Then the seventy- two returned with joy, saying,“ Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name!”

When they arrived, he said to them,“ You yourselves know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I set foot in the province of Asia,serving the Lord with all humility and with tears, and with the trials that happened to me because of the plots of the Jews.You know that I did not hold back from proclaiming to you anything that would be helpful, and from teaching you publicly and from house to house,testifying to both Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus.

When morning came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles:

I wrote the former account, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teachuntil the day he was taken up to heaven, after he had given orders by the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.

Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in your speech, conduct, love, faithfulness, and purity.Until I come, give attention to the public reading of scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.Do not neglect the spiritual gift you have, given to you and confirmed by prophetic words when the elders laid hands on you.Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that everyone will see your progress.Be conscientious about how you live and what you teach. Persevere in this, because by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.
