He had the apostle James( John’s brother) killed with a sword.When Herod saw how much this pleased the Jewish people, he also arrested Peter.( This took place during the Passover celebration.)Then he imprisoned him, placing him under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring Peter out for public trial after the Passover.

All the people who belong to this world will gloat over them and give presents to each other to celebrate the death of the two prophets who had tormented them.

On royal holidays, the princes get drunk with wine, carousing with those who mock them.

Take courage and do it!”So at Absalom’s signal they murdered Amnon. Then the other sons of the king jumped on their mules and fled.

So in the month of April, during the twelfth year of King Xerxes’ reign, lots were cast in Haman’s presence( the lots were called purim) to determine the best day and month to take action. And the day selected was March 7, nearly a year later.

The wicked plot against the godly; they snarl at them in defiance.But the Lord just laughs, for he sees their day of judgment coming.

Many years later King Belshazzar gave a great feast for 1,000 of his nobles, and he drank wine with them.While Belshazzar was drinking the wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver cups that his predecessor, Nebuchadnezzar, had taken from the Temple in Jerusalem. He wanted to drink from them with his nobles, his wives, and his concubines.So they brought these gold cups taken from the Temple, the house of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, his wives, and his concubines drank from them.While they drank from them they praised their idols made of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.
