而約翰一直對希律說：「你占有自己兄弟的妻子是不可以的。」

約翰曾謂之曰、納弟妻非宜也、

約翰諫曰、納兄弟妻、非宜也、

約翰諫曰、爾納弟妻、非宜也、

蓋如望嘗諫曰：『納弟婦、非禮也。』

For John had been saying to Herod,“ It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”

If a man has sexual intercourse with his brother’s wife, it is indecency. He has exposed his brother’s nakedness; they will be childless.

You must not have sexual intercourse with your brother’s wife; she is your brother’s nakedness.

For Herod had arrested John, bound him, and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,because John had repeatedly told him,“ It is not lawful for you to have her.”

When I say to the wicked,“ You will certainly die,” and you do not warn him– you do not speak out to warn the wicked to turn from his wicked deed and wicked lifestyle so that he may live– that wicked person will die for his iniquity, but I will hold you accountable for his death.But as for you, if you warn the wicked and he does not turn from his wicked deed and from his wicked lifestyle, he will die for his iniquity but you will have saved your own life.
