When Herod heard of it, he said,“ John, the one I beheaded, has been raised!”

Those who live on the earth will gloat over them and celebrate and send gifts to one another because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.But after three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet. Great fear fell on those who saw them.Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them,“ Come up here.” They went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies watched them.At that moment a violent earthquake took place, a tenth of the city fell, and seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake. The survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

“ I beheaded John,” Herod said,“ but who is this I hear such things about?” And he wanted to see him.

“ I have sinned by betraying innocent blood,” he said.“ What’s that to us?” they said.“ See to it yourself!”

On the vine were three branches. As soon as it budded, its blossoms came out and its clusters ripened into grapes.Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, squeezed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”

“ This is John the Baptist,” he told his servants.“ He has been raised from the dead, and that’s why miraculous powers are at work in him.”

Then they will be filled with dread— dread like no other— because God will scatter the bones of those who besiege you. You will put them to shame, for God has rejected them.
