who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains,

那人常住在坟茔里，没有人能捆住他，就是用铁链也不能；

那人常住在墳塋裏，沒有人能捆住他，就是用鐵鍊也不能；

這個人住在墓地裡，沒有人能捆住他，就是用鐵鏈也不行。

其人素居於塚、雖以鏈亦莫能縛之、

其人素居塚、無有能以鐵索繫之者、

其人素居於墓、雖以鐵索繫之、亦徒然、

是人素居墓中、雖鐵索亦不足以繫之、

This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain.

The man lived in the tombs. No one could keep him tied up anymore. Not even a chain could hold him.

He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain,

This man lived in the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain.

He lived in the tombs, and no one was able to restrain him anymore— not even with a chain—

Who sit among the graves, And spend the night in the tombs; Who eat swine’s flesh, And the broth of abominable things is in their vessels;

And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.”That very hour the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.

For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.

And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”He answered him and said,“ O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.”Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.So He asked his father,“ How long has this been happening to him?” And he said,“ From childhood.And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
