But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people,“ There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.”

Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized.

After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent a message to them, saying,“ Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, say it.”

And they all seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But Gallio paid no attention to any of this.

They came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and Jesus saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly.

While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler’s house some who said,“ Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue,“ Do not fear, only believe.”

But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.

I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me,

While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying,“ My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.”And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples.And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment,for she said to herself,“ If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.”Jesus turned, and seeing her he said,“ Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well.And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion,he said,“ Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him.But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.And the report of this went through all that district.

When Peter entered, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him.But Peter lifted him up, saying,“ Stand up; I too am a man.”

But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying,“ Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.”

When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and said with a loud voice,“ What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.”

And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

And there came a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue. And falling at Jesus’ feet, he implored him to come to his house,for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. As Jesus went, the people pressed around him.And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone.She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased.And Jesus said,“ Who was it that touched me?” When all denied it, Peter said,“ Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!”But Jesus said,“ Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone out from me.”And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed.And he said to her,“ Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”While he was still speaking, someone from the ruler’s house came and said,“ Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more.”But Jesus on hearing this answered him,“ Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.”And when he came to the house, he allowed no one to enter with him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child.And all were weeping and mourning for her, but he said,“ Do not weep, for she is not dead but sleeping.”And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.But taking her by the hand he called, saying,“ Child, arise.”And her spirit returned, and she got up at once. And he directed that something should be given her to eat.And her parents were amazed, but he charged them to tell no one what had happened.
