Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

Jesus did not let him, but said,“ Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”

Jesus did not let him. He said,“ Go home to your own people. Tell them how much the Lord has done for you. Tell them how kind he has been to you.”

And he did not permit him but said to him,“ Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”

But Jesus said,“ No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.”

Jesus did not let him but told him,“ Go home to your own people, and report to them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you.”

And He did not let him, but He* said to him,“ Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.”

However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him,“ Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.”

And he suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go to thy house unto thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and how he had mercy on thee.

But He would not let him; instead, He told him,“ Go back home to your own people, and report to them how much the Lord has done for you and how He has had mercy on you.”

But Jesus did not permit him to do so. Instead, he said to him,“ Go to your home and to your people and tell them what the Lord has done for you, that he had mercy on you.”

He didn’t allow him, but said to him,“ Go to your house, to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you.”

Come[ and] hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works[ are] truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:Unto which[ promise] our twelve tribes, instantly serving[ God] day and night, hope to come. For which hope’s sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against[ them].And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled[ them] to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted[ them] even unto strange cities.Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?[ it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks.And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;Delivering thee from the people, and[ from] the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,To open their eyes,[ and] to turn[ them] from darkness to light, and[ from] the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and[ then] to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill[ me].Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:That Christ should suffer,[ and] that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he[ is] the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom[ that] which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion[ shall be even] unto the end.He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness:I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.I said, I shall not see the LORD,[ even] the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd’s tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day[ even] to night wilt thou make an end of me.I reckoned till morning,[ that], as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day[ even] to night wilt thou make an end of me.Like a crane[ or] a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail[ with looking] upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done[ it]: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.O Lord, by these[ things men] live, and in all these[ things is] the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul[ delivered it] from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.For the grave cannot praise thee, death can[ not] celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I[ do] this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.The LORD[ was ready] to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.

Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.How great[ are] his signs! and how mighty[ are] his wonders! his kingdom[ is] an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion[ is] from generation to generation.

Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence[ which I make] now unto you.( And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)I am verily a man[ which am] a Jew, born in Tarsus,[ a city] in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel,[ and] taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt[ there],Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.

Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly,And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I,[ and] thou heardest my voice.For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.The waters compassed me about,[ even] to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars[ was] about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay[ that] that I have vowed. Salvation[ is] of the LORD.And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry[ land].
