Jesus did not let him, but said,“ Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”

However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him,“ Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.”

But He would not let him; instead, He told him,“ Go back home to your own people, and report to them how much the Lord has done for you and how He has had mercy on you.”

Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

But Jesus did not permit him to do so. Instead, he said to him,“ Go to your home and to your people and tell them what the Lord has done for you, that he had mercy on you.”

Come, and hear, all ye that fear God, And I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

And concerning this hope I am accused by the Jews, O king!Why is it judged incredible with you, if God doth raise the dead?I verily thought with myself that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.And this I also did in Jerusalem: and I both shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests, and when they were put to death I gave my vote against them.And punishing them oftentimes in all the synagogues, I strove to make them blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities.Whereupon as I journeyed to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests,at midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them that journeyed with me.And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice saying unto me in the Hebrew language, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the goad.And I said, Who art thou, Lord? I know that thou believest.And Agrippa said unto Paul, With but little persuasion thou wouldest fain make me a Christian.And Paul said, I would to God, that whether with little or with much, not thou only, but also all that hear me this day, might become such as I am, except these bonds.

Then king Darius wrote unto all the peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied unto you.I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, And his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed; and his dominion shall be even unto the end.He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness.I said, In the noontide of my days I shall go into the gates of Sheol: I am deprived of the residue of my years.I said, I shall not see Jehovah, even Jehovah in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.My dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me as a shepherd’s tent: I have rolled up, like a weaver, my life; he will cut me off from the loom: From day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.I quieted myself until morning; as a lion, so he breaketh all my bones: From day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.Like a swallow or a crane, so did I chatter; I did moan as a dove; mine eyes fail with looking upward: O Lord, I am oppressed, be thou my surety.What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.O Lord, by these things men live; And wholly therein is the life of my spirit: Wherefore recover thou me, and make me to live.Behold, it was for my peace that I had great bitterness: But thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; For thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.For Sheol cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: They that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: The father to the children shall make known thy truth.Jehovah is ready to save me: Therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments All the days of our life in the house of Jehovah.

And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.And they that were with me beheld indeed the light, but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me I came into Damascus.And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well reported of by all the Jews that dwelt there,came unto me, and standing by me said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And in that very hour I looked up on him.And he said, The God of our fathers hath appointed thee to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear a voice from his mouth.For thou shalt be a witness for him unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on his name.And it came to pass, that, when I had returned to Jerusalem, and while I prayed in the temple, I fell into a trance,and saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem; because they will not receive of thee testimony concerning me.And I said, Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:and when the blood of Stephen thy witness was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting, and keeping the garments of them that slew him.And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee forth far hence unto the Gentiles.

Then Jonah prayed unto Jehovah his God out of the fish’s belly.And he said, I called by reason of mine affliction unto Jehovah, And he answered me; Out of the belly of Sheol cried I, And thou heardest my voice.For thou didst cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, And the flood was round about me; All thy waves and thy billows passed over me.And I said, I am cast out from before thine eyes; Yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.The waters compassed me about, even to the soul; The deep was round about me; The weeds were wrapped about my head.I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed upon me for ever: Yet hast thou brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah; And my prayer came in unto thee, into thy holy temple.They that regard lying vanities Forsake their own mercy.But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of Jehovah.And Jehovah spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
