然而因为没有根，被太阳一晒就枯萎了；

骄阳升起，草就干枯，花也凋谢，美丽就消失了。富有的人在忙忙碌碌中也会如此衰残。

他们不会再受饥饿和干渴的折磨，也不会再受太阳和酷热的煎熬，

按照你们所受的教导在祂里面扎根成长，信心坚固，满怀感恩。

不要因为我被太阳晒黑就看不起我。这是因为我的兄弟恼恨我，要我在烈日之下看守葡萄园，使我无暇照顾自己。

他就像溪水旁的树木——按时结果子，叶子也不凋零。他必凡事亨通。恶人的光景却截然不同！他们就像被风吹散的糠秕。

这些人在你们的爱宴中是败类。他们肆无忌惮地吃喝，是只顾喂养自己的牧人；是没有雨的云，随风飘荡；是深秋不结果子的树，被连根拔起，彻底枯死。

你是贫穷人的避难所，是困苦之人患难中的避难所，你是避风港，是酷暑中的阴凉处。残暴之徒的气息好像吹袭墙垣的暴风，

使基督借着你们的信心住在你们心里，使你们在爱中扎根、坚立，

用尽各样诡计欺骗那些将要灭亡的人，因为他们不喜欢接受那能拯救他们的真理。

太阳出来的时候，上帝刮起燥热的东风，烈日把约拿晒得发昏，他就再次求死说：“我死了比活着还好！”

他们栽在耶和华的殿中，他们在我们上帝的院子里长得枝繁叶茂。他们到老仍然结果子，一片青翠，宣扬说：“耶和华公正无私，祂是我的磐石，祂里面毫无不义。”

耶和华说：“信靠世人、倚靠血肉之躯、背叛耶和华的人该受咒诅！这样的人毫无福乐，像沙漠中的灌木。他要住在旷野中干旱无人的盐碱地。信靠耶和华、倚靠耶和华的人有福了！这样的人像一棵栽在水边的树，根扎入水中，不怕炎热，不怕干旱，绿叶如荫，不断结果。
