Then He left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him and said,“ Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.”And He said,“ The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man,and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the weeds are the sons of the evil one;and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are angels.So just as the weeds are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age.The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness,and they will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. The one who has ears, let him hear.

Then beginning with Moses and with all the Prophets, He explained to them the things written about Himself in all the Scriptures.

As soon as He was alone, His followers, along with the twelve disciples, began asking Him about the parables.

Now He said to them,“ These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all the things that are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,and He said to them,“ So it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,

And when He later entered a house, away from the crowd, His disciples asked Him about the parable.And He* said to them,“ Are you so lacking in understanding as well? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the person from outside cannot defile him,because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?”( Thereby He declared all foods clean.)And He was saying,“ That which comes out of the person, that is what defiles the person.For from within, out of the hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery,deeds of greed, wickedness, deceit, indecent behavior, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.All these evil things come from within and defile the person.”

Now His disciples began asking Him what this parable meant.And He said,“ To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest they are told in parables, so that while seeing they may not see, and while hearing they may not understand.
