Then he left the crowds and went into the house. His disciples approached him and said,“ Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”He replied,“ The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man;the field is the world; and the good seed— these are the children of the kingdom. The weeds are the children of the evil one,and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.Therefore, just as the weeds are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age.The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom all who cause sin and those guilty of lawlessness.They will throw them into the blazing furnace where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s kingdom. Let anyone who has ears listen.

Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted for them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures.

When he was alone, those around him with the Twelve asked him about the parables.

He told them,“ These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you— that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.He also said to them,“ This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day,

When he went into the house away from the crowd, his disciples asked him about the parable.He said to them,“ Are you also as lacking in understanding? Don’t you realize that nothing going into a person from the outside can defile him?For it doesn’t go into his heart but into the stomach and is eliminated”( thus he declared all foods clean).And he said,“ What comes out of a person is what defiles him.For from within, out of people’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immoralities, thefts, murders,adulteries, greed, evil actions, deceit, self-indulgence, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.All these evil things come from within and defile a person.”

Then his disciples asked him,“ What does this parable mean?”So he said,“ The secrets of the kingdom of God have been given for you to know, but to the rest it is in parables, so that Looking they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
