叮嚀斯世富人、不可驕傲；財富無常、未足恃也。所可恃者、惟天主耳。天主慨然以萬物賜予吾人、俾得充量享受者、

毋戀世俗世物；人若戀世、安得有愛慕天父之情、存乎其心。蓋世間所有、不外物欲聲色、榮華富貴。凡此皆非本乎天父、乃本乎人世。而人世及其所貪圖者、皆暫而不久、俯仰之間、已為陳跡。惟有遵行天主聖意之人、可大可久、永古長存。

不復徇人欲、惟循天主聖意、以度餘生。夫過去之日、與世俗同流合污、放縱恣肆、沈湎酒色、崇拜偶像、不已足乎？

爾宜無憂。爾有所需、宜用懇切之祈禱、感激之情緖、向天主坦率陳之；

耶穌乃謂門徒曰：『我實語爾、難矣哉、富人之進天國也！

是故勿謀何飲何食、毋事營營汲汲；凡此皆世俗之所營。爾之有需於此、爾父庸有不知？

尚其慎旃！莫使爾之心靈、困於酒食、蔽於世慮；蓋彼日將突然臨爾、有如陷穽、天網恢恢、

枝之在我、而不結實者、彼則截之；其結實者、彼則裁之、使結實彌茂。

乃自計曰：「吾無處囤此物產、將如之何？」曰：「有矣、吾將毀諸倉、而另建大者、以儲百穀諸貨。」吾將寬慰吾魂曰：「魂乎、爾有豐財、足供餘年、此後可安心飲食、姿爾宴樂。」詎天主謂之曰：「愚人、今夕欲索爾魂、爾之所備、將誰歸乎？」凡厚積私財、而貧於天爵者、皆此類也。』

主應曰：『瑪大！瑪大！爾煩心焦慮、所務何多！

爾等苟能存養此等美德、使之發榮滋長於爾內心、則體認吾主耶穌基督、自覺日益親切、欲罷不能、必不致華而不實也。

客同聲辭謝；首曰：「予置一地、必須往視、請辭。」次曰：「予購十牛、須往試之、請辭。」又一人曰：「予方新婚、不克赴筵。」

在爾等愛席之上、彼必與共、惟有恣其口腹、靦然自飽、以玷爾清潔耳。此輩實同無雨之雲、為風所逐；秋後之樹、不結果實；外枯中乾、根株盡拔。

方今斧斤已加於樹根、凡不結嘉實之樹、必伐而投諸火中。

代馬士不能忘情於斯世、已離我而赴德颯洛尼矣。格肋森則往加拉西亞、提多亦赴達爾馬西亞。

譬如地土、甘霖時降、飽受滋潤、而產百穀、有益於耕耘之人、則天主福焉。若其產荊棘蒺藜、則必被棄置、服咒詛結果亦惟有付諸一炬而已矣。
