Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy.

And these are the ones sown on rocky ground: the ones who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy.

The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy.

And others are like seed sown on rocky ground. When they hear the word, immediately they receive it with joy.

And in a similar way these are the ones sown with seed on the rocky places, who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy;

These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

And these in like manner are they that are sown upon the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, straightway receive it with joy;

And these are the ones sown on rocky ground: when they hear the word, immediately they receive it with joy.

And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

These are the ones sown on rocky ground: As soon as they hear the word, they receive it with joy.

These in the same way are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy.

because Herod was afraid of John. So he kept John safe. Herod knew John was a holy man who did what was right. When Herod heard him, he was very puzzled. But he liked to listen to John.

The seed on rocky ground stands for those who hear the message and receive it with joy. But they have no roots. They believe for a while. But when they are tested, they fall away from the faith.

John was like a lamp that burned and gave light. For a while you chose to enjoy his light.

The seed that fell on rocky places is like other people. They hear the message and at once receive it with joy.But they have no roots. So they last only a short time. They quickly fall away from the faith when trouble or suffering comes because of the message.

My people come to you, just as they usually do. They sit in front of you. They hear what you say. But they do not put it into practice. With their mouths they say they love me. But in their hearts they want what belongs to others. They try to get rich by cheating them.You are nothing more to them than someone who sings love songs. They say you have a beautiful voice. They think you play an instrument well. They hear what you say. But they do not put it into practice.

Simon watched as the apostles placed their hands on them. He saw that the Spirit was given to them. So he offered money to Peter and John.He said,“ Give me this power too. Then everyone I place my hands on will receive the Holy Spirit.”Peter answered,“ May your money be destroyed with you! Paul talked about how to live a godly life. He talked about how people should control themselves. He also talked about the time when God will judge everyone. Then Felix became afraid.“ That’s enough for now!” he said.“ You may leave. When I find the time, I will send for you.”He was hoping that Paul would offer him some money to let him go. So he often sent for Paul and talked with him.

Then a teacher of the law came to him. He said,“ Teacher, I will follow you no matter where you go.”Jesus replied,“ Foxes have dens. Birds have nests. But the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

Simon himself believed and was baptized. He followed Philip everywhere. He was amazed by the great signs and miracles he saw.

Do not commit adultery. Do not steal. Do not be a false witness. Do not cheat. Honor your father and mother.’ ”( Exodus 20:12–16; Deuteronomy 5:16–20)“ Teacher,” he said,“ I have obeyed all those commandments since I was a boy.”Jesus looked at him and loved him.“ You are missing one thing,” he said.“ Go and sell everything you have. Give the money to those who are poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”The man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he was very rich.

Then Agrippa spoke to Paul.“ Are you trying to talk me into becoming a Christian?” he said.“ Do you think you can do that in such a short time?”
