Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.

What is seed scattered on a path like? The message is planted. The people hear the message. Then Satan comes. He takes away the message that was planted in them.

And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown: when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that is sown in them.

The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message, only to have Satan come at once and take it away.

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one sown with seed beside the road.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they will not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

But they paid no attention and went their separate ways, one to his own farm, another to his business,

And yet they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him,‘ I purchased a field and I need to go out to look at it; please consider me excused.’And another one said,‘ I bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please consider me excused.’

For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.

Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

So Lot went out and spoke to his sons in law, who were to marry his daughters, and said,“ Up, get out of this place, for the Lord is destroying the city.” But he appeared to his sons in law to be joking.

Then Jesus* said to him,“ Go away, Satan! For it is written:‘ You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’ ”

and when they had gone out, they began talking to one another, saying,“ This man is not doing anything deserving death or imprisonment.”And Agrippa said to Festus,“ This man could have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”
