Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge.

耶穌又到海邊去，眾人都到他跟前來，他就教導他們。

耶穌站在革尼撒勒湖邊，眾人擁擠他，要聽上帝的道。他見有兩隻船靠在湖邊，打魚的人卻離開船，洗網去了。有一隻船是西門的，耶穌就上去，請他把船撐開，稍微離岸，就坐下，在船上教導眾人。

當一大羣人聚集，又有人從各城裏出來見耶穌的時候，耶穌用比喻說：「有一個撒種的出去撒種。他撒的時候，有的落在路旁，被人踐踏，天上的飛鳥又來把它吃掉了。有的落在磐石上，一出來就枯乾了，因為得不着滋潤。有的落在荊棘裏，荊棘跟它一同生長，把它擠住了。又有的落在好土裏，生長起來，結實百倍。」耶穌說完這些話，大聲說：「有耳可聽的，就應當聽！」門徒問耶穌這比喻是甚麼意思。他說：「上帝國的奧祕只讓你們知道，至於別人，就用比喻，要他們看也看不見，聽也不明白。」

就在那天，耶穌從房子裏出來，坐在海邊。有一大羣人到他那裏聚集，他只好上船坐下，眾人都站在岸上。他用比喻對他們講了許多話。他說：「有一個撒種的出去撒種。他撒的時候，有的落在路旁，飛鳥來把它們吃掉了。有的落在土淺的石頭地上，因為土不深，很快就長出苗來，太陽出來一曬，因為沒有根就枯乾了。有的落在荊棘裏，荊棘長起來，把它擠住了。又有的落在好土裏，就結出果實，有一百倍的，有六十倍的，有三十倍的。有耳的，就應當聽！」門徒進前來問耶穌：「對眾人講話，為甚麼用比喻呢？」耶穌回答他們說：「因為天國的奧祕只讓你們知道，不讓他們知道。凡有的，還要給他，讓他有餘；凡沒有的，連他所有的也要奪去。我之所以用比喻對他們講，是因為他們看卻看不清，聽卻聽不見，也不明白。在他們身上，正應驗了以賽亞的預言：『你們聽了又聽，卻不明白，看了又看，卻看不清。因為這百姓的心麻木，耳朵發沉，眼睛閉着，免得眼睛看見，耳朵聽見，心裏明白，回轉過來，我會醫治他們。』

耶穌和門徒退到海邊去，有許多人從加利利跟隨他。還有許多人聽見他所做的事，就從猶太、耶路撒冷、以土買、約旦河的東邊，以及推羅和西頓的附近地方來到他那裏。
