又对他们说：“在安息日哪一样是可以作的呢：作好事还是坏事？救命还是害命？”他们一声不响。

又问众人说：“在安息日行善行恶，救命害命，哪样是可以的呢？”他们都不作声。

然后问众人：“在安息日应该行善还是作恶？救人还是害人？”他们都不吭声。

耶稣问他们：“在安息日可以行善还是作恶，救命还是害命？”他们却不做声。

復問眾曰：『禮日當行善乎？抑作惡乎？救生乎？抑戕生乎？』眾皆嘿然不答。

Then Jesus asked them,“ Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.

Then Jesus asked them,“ What does the Law say we should do on the Sabbath day? Should we do good? Or should we do evil? Should we save life? Or should we kill?” But no one answered.

And he said to them,“ Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.

Then he turned to his critics and asked,“ Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him.

Then he said to them,“ Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.

And He* said to them,“ Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do harm, to save a life or to kill?” But they kept silent.

And he saith unto them, Is it lawful on the sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

耶稣对他们说：“我问你们：在安息日哪一样是可以作的呢：作好事还是坏事？救命还是害命？”

会堂里有一个人，他的一只手枯干了。有人问耶稣：“在安息日治病，可以吗？”目的是要控告耶稣。耶稣回答：“你们当中有哪一个，他仅有的一只羊在安息日跌进坑里，会不把羊抓住拉上来呢？人比羊贵重得多了！所以，在安息日行善是可以的。”

在安息日，耶稣进了一个法利赛人领袖的家里吃饭，众人都在窥探他。正好在他面前有一个患水臌病的人；耶稣对律法师和法利赛人说：“在安息日治病，可以不可以呢？”他们却不出声。耶稣扶着病人，治好他，叫他走了，就对他们说：“你们中间谁的儿子或牛在安息日掉在井里，不立刻把他拉上来呢？”

耶稣又告诉他们：“安息日是为人设立的，人并不是为安息日设立的。这样，人子也是安息日的主。”

耶稣用双手按在她身上，她立刻直起腰来，颂赞神。会堂的主管，因为耶稣在安息日治病，就气忿忿地对群众说：“有六天是应当作工的，你们可以在这六天里来求医，但在安息日却不可以。”主说：“伪君子啊，你们哪一个人在安息日，不从槽那里解开牛、驴，牵去喝水呢？何况这个女人是亚伯拉罕的后裔，已经被撒但捆绑了十八年，不应当在安息日解开她的捆绑吗？”他说完了这些话，那些与他为敌的人都惭愧；群众却都因他所行一切荣耀的事欢喜。

门徒一声不响，因为他们在路上彼此争论谁为大。

我喜爱怜恤，不喜爱祭祀；我喜爱人认识神的知识，胜过人献的燔祭。
