Let me illustrate this further. Who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger— someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house.

In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.

For I will fight those who fight you, and I will save your children.I will feed your enemies with their own flesh. They will be drunk with rivers of their own blood. All the world will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel.”

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.

For who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger— someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house.

For when a strong man is fully armed and guards his palace, his possessions are safe—until someone even stronger attacks and overpowers him, strips him of his weapons, and carries off his belongings.“ Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.

I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the bottomless pit and a heavy chain in his hand.He seized the dragon— that old serpent, who is the devil, Satan— and bound him in chains for a thousand years.The angel threw him into the bottomless pit, which he then shut and locked so Satan could not deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were finished. Afterward he must be released for a little while.

When the seventy two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him,“ Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!”“ Yes,” he told them,“ I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”

The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.

And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”

In that day the Lord will take his terrible, swift sword and punish Leviathan, the swiftly moving serpent, the coiling, writhing serpent. He will kill the dragon of the sea.

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels.And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven.This great dragon— the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world— was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.

In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

Because God’s children are human beings— made of flesh and blood— the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.
