In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.

Let me illustrate this further. Who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger— someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house.

“ On the other hand, no one can enter a strong man’s house and rob his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he will rob his house.

Can the prey be taken from a mighty man, or the captives of a tyrant be delivered?For this is what the LORD says:“ Even the captives of a mighty man will be taken, and the prey of a tyrant will be delivered; I will contend with the one who contends with you, and I will save your children.I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh, and they will be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. Then all humanity will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength.Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil.For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens.For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.

How can someone enter a strong man’s house and steal his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.

When a strong man, fully armed, guards his estate, his possessions are secure.But when one stronger than he attacks and overpowers him, he takes from him all his weapons he trusted in, and divides up his plunder.Anyone who is not with me is against me, and anyone who does not gather with me scatters.

Therefore I will give him the many as a portion, and he will receive the mighty as spoil, because he willingly submitted to death, and was counted among the rebels; yet he bore the sin of many and interceded for the rebels.

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven holding the key to the abyss and a great chain in his hand.He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.He threw him into the abyss, closed it, and put a seal on it so that he would no longer deceive the nations until the thousand years were completed. After that, he must be released for a short time.

The seventy-two returned with joy, saying,“ Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”He said to them,“ I watched Satan fall from heaven like lightning.Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing at all will harm you.However, don’t rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Now is the judgment of this world. Now the ruler of this world will be cast out.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners;

I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.

On that day the LORD with his relentless, large, strong sword will bring judgment on Leviathan, the fleeing serpent— Leviathan, the twisting serpent. He will slay the monster that is in the sea.

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels also fought,but he could not prevail, and there was no place for them in heaven any longer.So the great dragon was thrown out— the ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the one who deceives the whole world. He was thrown to earth, and his angels with him.

He disarmed the rulers and authorities and disgraced them publicly; he triumphed over them in him.

Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death— that is, the devil—
