James son of Zebedee and his brother John( to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means“ sons of thunder”),

There were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. Jesus gave them the name Boanerges. Boanerges means Sons of Thunder.

James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James( to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder);

and to James the son of Zebedee, and to his brother John, he gave the name“ Boanerges”( that is,“ Sons of Thunder”);

James the son of Zebedee; and John, the brother of James,( whom he called Boanerges, which means, Sons of Thunder);

Does not my word burn like fire?” says the Lord.“ Is it not like a mighty hammer that smashes a rock to pieces?

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed,

“ Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast. Shout aloud! Don’t be timid. Tell my people Israel of their sins!

About that time King Herod Agrippa began to persecute some believers in the church.

A little farther up the shore Jesus saw Zebedee’s sons, James and John, in a boat repairing their nets.He called them at once, and they also followed him, leaving their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired men.

He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he became deeply troubled and distressed.

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came over and spoke to him.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we want you to do us a favor.”

Several of the disciples were there— Simon Peter, Thomas( nicknamed the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.

Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved— the one who had leaned over to Jesus during supper and asked,“ Lord, who will betray you?”Peter asked Jesus,“ What about him, Lord?”Jesus replied,“ If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me.”So the rumor spread among the community of believers that this disciple wouldn’t die. But that isn’t what Jesus said at all. He only said,“ If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”This disciple is the one who testifies to these events and has recorded them here. And we know that his account of these things is accurate.Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.

Then Jesus stopped the crowd and wouldn’t let anyone go with him except Peter, James, and John( the brother of James).

Then I was told,“ You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.”
