James son of Zebedee and his brother John( to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means“ sons of thunder”),

There were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. Jesus gave them the name Boanerges. Boanerges means Sons of Thunder.

James the son of Zebedee; and John, the brother of James,( whom he called Boanerges, which means, Sons of Thunder);

My message is like a fire that purges dross! It is like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces! I, the LORD, so affirm it!

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double- edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart.

Six days later Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John and led them alone up a high mountain privately. And he was transfigured before them,

“ Shout loudly! Don’t be quiet! Yell as loud as a trumpet! Confront my people with their rebellious deeds; confront Jacob’s family with their sin!

About that time King Herod laid hands on some from the church to harm them.

Going on a little farther, he saw James, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother in their boat mending nets.Immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.

He took Peter, James, and John with him, and became very troubled and distressed.

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him and said,“ Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”

Simon Peter, Thomas( called Didymus), Nathanael( who was from Cana in Galilee), the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples of his were together.

Peter turned around and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them.( This was the disciple who had leaned back against Jesus’ chest at the meal and asked,“ Lord, who is the one who is going to betray you?”)So when Peter saw him, he asked Jesus,“ Lord, what about him?”Jesus replied,“ If I want him to live until I come back, what concern is that of yours? You follow me!”So the saying circulated among the brothers and sisters that this disciple was not going to die. But Jesus did not say to him that he was not going to die, but rather,“ If I want him to live until I come back, what concern is that of yours?”This is the disciple who testifies about these things and has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.There are many other things that Jesus did. If every one of them were written down, I suppose the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.

Then they told me:“ You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.”
