James son of Zebedee and his brother John( to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means“ sons of thunder”),

There were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. Jesus gave them the name Boanerges. Boanerges means Sons of Thunder.

“ Is not my word like fire”— this is the LORD’s declaration—“ and like a hammer that pulverizes rock?

For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain by themselves to be alone. He was transfigured in front of them,

“ Cry out loudly, don’t hold back! Raise your voice like a ram’s horn. Tell my people their transgression and the house of Jacob their sins.

About that time King Herod violently attacked some who belonged to the church,

Going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat putting their nets in order.Immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.

He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled.

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached him and said,“ Teacher, we want you to do whatever we ask you.”

Simon Peter, Thomas( called“ Twin”), Nathanael from Cana of Galilee, Zebedee’s sons, and two others of his disciples were together.

So Peter turned around and saw the disciple Jesus loved following them, the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and asked,“ Lord, who is the one that’s going to betray you?”When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus,“ Lord, what about him?”“ If I want him to remain until I come,” Jesus answered,“ what is that to you? As for you, follow me.”So this rumor spread to the brothers and sisters that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not tell him that he would not die, but,“ If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?”This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which, if every one of them were written down, I suppose not even the world itself could contain the books that would be written.

He did not let anyone accompany him except Peter, James, and John, James’s brother.

And they said to me,“ You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.”
