He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach

厥後主又簡七十二人、使其兩兩成行、豫往其將親蒞之城鄉、囑曰：『莊稼豐矣、而操作乏人。宜求莊稼之主、多遣工人、從事收穫。往矣、予遣爾等、猶羔羊入狼群！勿攜錢囊糧袋、及屐履等物。途中亦勿與人招呼。入一家、必先祝其平安；倘有平安子在、則爾之平安臨之；否則所祝仍反於爾。居是家、就其日常所備者、食焉飲焉；工而得值、孰云不宜。居則安之、毋輕徙。入一邑、見納、食其所供、治其病者、告邑人曰：「天主之國、已近爾矣！」入一邑、而不見納、則出至通衢、而告之曰：「爾邑之塵着我足、茲當爾拂去之。第爾應知天主之國在邇矣！」

耶穌召集十二徒、授以制魔治疾之權能、遣其宣揚天主國、施醫濟眾、囑曰：『首途勿有所攜、毋杖毋囊、毋糧毋銀、毋二衣、入一家居之、以至別時、勿輕徙、有不爾納者、離時拂去足塵、以證其非。』諸徒出、徧歷鄉村、傳布福音、隨處施醫。

禱曰：『主、爾洞悉眾心、請示二人中孰為爾選、用承茹達斯所棄之職。蓋茹達斯已歸其所矣。』

然聖神降臨、將賜爾等以神力、而爾等將為予作證、始自耶路撒冷、繼及猶太沙瑪里、終至普天率土、無遠不屆。』

宗徒葆樂、非由人所遣、亦非因人而立、乃奉命於耶穌基督、及賜其復活之天主聖父者、

然選我於胎中、而召我以特恩者、按其所悅樂之時、惠然以其聖子啟示吾心、令我傳道於外邦。吾即當機立斷、不屑謀之於血氣肉情、亦未上耶路撒冷探訪前輩宗徒、逕赴阿刺伯、後又返大馬士革。閱三載、乃上耶路撒冷、謁基法、相處旬有五日。其他宗徒、自主之表弟雅各伯而外悉未之見。凡此種切洵非虛言、天主照臨、實鑒斯忱。
