大衛到了挪伯的亞希米勒祭司那裏，亞希米勒戰戰兢兢地出來迎接他，對他說：「你為甚麼獨自一人，沒有人跟隨你呢？」

王對亞比亞他祭司說：「你回亞拿突歸自己的田地去吧！你本是該死的，但因你在我父親大衛面前抬過主耶和華的約櫃，又與我父親同受一切苦難，所以我今日不殺死你。」所羅門就革除亞比亞他，不讓他作耶和華的祭司。這就應驗了耶和華在示羅論以利家所說的話。

亞倫和他兒子要在會幕的門口吃這羊的肉和籃子裏的餅。他們要吃那些用來贖罪之物，好承接聖職，使他們分別為聖。外人不可吃，因為這是聖物。

亞多尼雅與洗魯雅的兒子約押和亞比亞他祭司商議；他們就順從亞多尼雅，幫助他。

於是撒督和亞比亞他將上帝的約櫃請回耶路撒冷，他們就留在那裏。

亞希米勒的兒子亞比亞他逃往基伊拉到大衛那裏的時候，手裏拿着以弗得。

看哪，撒督和所有抬上帝約櫃的利未人也一同來了。他們將上帝的約櫃放下，亞比亞他上來，直到眾百姓從城裏出來走過去為止。

大衛知道掃羅設計陷害他，就對亞比亞他祭司說：「把以弗得拿過來。」

所羅門王回答母親說：「為何替亞多尼雅求書念女子亞比煞呢？可以為他求王國吧！他是我的兄長，不但為他，也為亞比亞他祭司和洗魯雅的兒子約押求吧！」

撒督和亞比亞他二位祭司豈不都在你那裏嗎？你在王宮裏聽見甚麼，就要告訴撒督和亞比亞他二位祭司。

亞希突的兒子亞希米勒有一個兒子逃脫了；他名叫亞比亞他，逃到大衛那裏。亞比亞他把掃羅殺耶和華祭司的事告訴大衛。大衛對亞比亞他說：「那日我見以東人多益在那裏，就知道他一定會告訴掃羅。你父的全家喪命，都是因我的緣故。
