As he walked along he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus. Levi was sitting at the tax collector’s booth.“ Follow me,” Jesus told him. Levi got up and followed him.

And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphæus sitting at the place of toll, and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

Then, moving on, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office, and He said to him,“ Follow Me!” So he got up and followed Him.

And as he passed by, he saw Levi the[ son] of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

As he went along, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax booth.“ Follow me,” he said to him. And he got up and followed him.

As he passed by, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax office, and he said to him,“ Follow me.” And he arose and followed him.

After this, Jesus left the house. He saw a tax collector sitting at the tax booth. The man’s name was Levi.“ Follow me,” Jesus said to him.Levi got up, left everything and followed him.Then Levi gave a huge banquet for Jesus at his house. A large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them.But the Pharisees and their teachers of the law complained to Jesus’ disciples. They said,“ Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”Jesus answered them,“ Healthy people don’t need a doctor. Sick people do.I have not come to get those who think they are right with God to follow me. I have come to get sinners to turn away from their sins.”

Matthew Thomas James, son of Alphaeus Simon who was called the Zealot

“ Come and follow me,” Jesus said.“ I will send you out to fish for people.”At once they left their nets and followed him.Going on from there, he saw two other brothers. They were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee. As they were preparing their nets, Jesus called out to them.Right away they left the boat and their father and followed Jesus.

There were also Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, and James, son of Alphaeus. And there were Thaddaeus and Simon the Zealot.

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew. He was sitting at the tax collector’s booth.“ Follow me,” Jesus told him. Matthew got up and followed him.Later Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house. Many tax collectors and sinners came. They ate with Jesus and his disciples.The Pharisees saw this. So they asked the disciples,“ Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”Jesus heard this. So he said,“ Those who are healthy don’t need a doctor. Sick people do.Go and learn what this means,‘ I want mercy and not sacrifice.’( Hosea 6:6) I have not come to get those who think they are right with God to follow me. I have come to get sinners to follow me.”

“ Come and follow me,” Jesus said.“ I will send you out to fish for people.”At once they left their nets and followed him.Then Jesus walked a little farther. As he did, he saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat preparing their nets.Right away he called out to them. They left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men. Then they followed Jesus.

When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Here is a list of those who were there. Peter, John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot and Judas son of James
