耶穌對她們說：「不要怕！去告訴我的弟兄們，要他們到加利利去。在那裡，他們將見到我。」

十一個門徒往加利利去，到了耶穌給他們指定的那座山上。他們看見耶穌，就拜他，不過還有人疑惑。

這些事以後，耶穌在太巴列湖邊又向門徒們顯明了自己。他是這樣顯明自己的：

這時候，所有的門徒都離開他逃跑了。

所以，你們反而更要饒恕他、安慰他，免得他被過度的憂傷吞沒了。

一連好幾天，他向那些與他一起從加利利上到耶路撒冷的人顯現；這些人如今在民間做了他的見證人，

並且向磯法顯現，然後向十二使徒顯現，

彼得正在下邊院子裡的時候，大祭司的一個女僕過來了。她看見彼得在取暖，就注視著他，說：「你也與那個拿撒勒人耶穌是一夥的。」彼得卻否認說：「我既不明白，也不知道你在說什麼。」於是他就出去，到了門廊。這時候，雞叫了。那女僕看見他，又開始對站在旁邊的人說：「這個人是與他們一夥的。」彼得再次否認。過了一會兒，站在旁邊的人又對彼得說：「你真的是與他們一夥的，因為你也是加利利人。」他就開始賭咒並起誓說：「我不認識你們所講的這個人。」立時，雞叫了第二遍。彼得想起耶穌對他說過的話：「雞叫兩遍以前，你會三次不認我」，他就忍不住痛哭起來。
