瑪麗亞因這話就驚慌不安，思索這問候到底是什麼意思。天使對她說：「瑪麗亞，不要怕，因為你在神面前蒙恩了。

眾人一見耶穌，都大吃一驚，就跑過去歡迎他。

撒迦利亞看見後，就驚慌不安，恐懼就臨到了他。

這時候，先來到墓穴的那另一個門徒也進去了。他看見了，就信了。

門徒們看見耶穌在湖面上行走，以為是幽靈，於是喊叫起來，因為他們都看見了他，就驚慌不安。耶穌立刻與他們講話，對他們說：「鼓起勇氣吧！是我，不要怕。」

她們就進去，卻找不到主耶穌的遺體。她們正為這件事心裡困惑的時候，忽然有兩個人，身穿閃閃發光的衣服，站在她們旁邊。婦女們嚇得把臉伏在地上。那兩個人對她們說：「你們為什麼在死人中尋找活人呢？

他又對我說：「但以理啊！你不要害怕，因為自從你用心領悟這事、在你的神面前謙卑的第一天起，你的禱告就蒙垂聽了；我是因你的禱告而來的。

我舉目觀看，看哪，有一個人身穿細麻衣，腰間束著俄斐黃金的帶子！他的身體如黃水晶，面貌如閃電的樣子，眼睛如燃燒的火把，膀臂和腳如磨亮閃耀的銅；他說話的聲音如眾人發出的聲音。唯獨我但以理看到了這異象，那些與我在一起的人卻沒有看到這異象，但是有極大的恐懼落在他們身上，他們就逃走躲藏了。因此，唯獨剩下我一人看到了這極大的異象；我裡面一點力氣都沒有，我的臉色變得如同死灰，我的力氣也留存不住，但我卻聽見了他說話的聲音；我一聽見他說話的聲音，就臉伏於地沉睡了。

於是加百列來到我所站的地方。他一來，我就驚惶失措，臉伏於地。他對我說：「人子啊，你當領悟，這異象是關於末後的時期！」
