Joseph bought a long sheet of linen cloth. Then he took Jesus’ body down from the cross, wrapped it in the cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance.

Jesus was still angry as he arrived at the tomb, a cave with a stone rolled across its entrance.

“ Who do you think you are, and what are you doing here, building a beautiful tomb for yourself— a monument high up in the rock?

On the way they were asking each other,“ Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?”But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside.

Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it.

Then he took the body down from the cross and wrapped it in a long sheet of linen cloth and laid it in a new tomb that had been carved out of rock.

Afterward Joseph of Arimathea, who had been a secret disciple of Jesus( because he feared the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate for permission to take down Jesus’ body. When Pilate gave permission, Joseph came and took the body away.With him came Nicodemus, the man who had come to Jesus at night. He brought about seventy five pounds of perfumed ointment made from myrrh and aloes.Following Jewish burial custom, they wrapped Jesus’ body with the spices in long sheets of linen cloth.The place of crucifixion was near a garden, where there was a new tomb, never used before.And so, because it was the day of preparation for the Jewish Passover and since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.

Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a long sheet of clean linen cloth.He placed it in his own new tomb, which had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance and left.
