雖然他沒有做過殘暴之事，口裡也沒有欺詐，但他的墳墓卻被安排在惡人的墳墓當中；不過他死的時候卻被安置在財主的墳墓中。

耶穌自己裡面再次感到憤怒，來到墳墓那裡。那墳墓是個洞穴，有一塊石頭放置在洞口。

你在這裡有什麼權利，你在這裡有什麼人，你竟然在這裡為自己開鑿墳墓？你這在高處為自己開鑿墳墓、在巖石中為自己雕鑿住所的人哪！

她們互相說：「誰能替我們滾開墓穴口的石頭呢？」原來那塊石頭非常大。可是她們抬頭一看，見石頭已經被滾開了。

忽然發生了強烈的地震，主的一位天使從天上降下來，上前把那石頭滾開，坐在上面。

他把遺體取下來，用細麻布裹好，安放在一座岩石鑿成的墓穴裡，那裡從來沒有安放過人。

這些事以後，亞利馬太的約瑟請求彼拉多，要領取耶穌的遺體。約瑟也是耶穌的門徒，不過是暗暗地做門徒，因為他怕那些猶太人。彼拉多准許了，他就來把耶穌的遺體領去。當初在夜裡來到耶穌那裡的尼克迪莫也來了。他帶著沒藥和沉香的混合香料，大約三十公斤。他們領了耶穌的遺體，按猶太人預備葬禮的規矩，用細麻布條和香料把遺體纏裹起來。耶穌被釘十字架的地方有一個園子，園子裡有一座新墓穴，從來沒有安放過人。因為那天是猶太人的預備日，那墓穴又在附近，他們就把耶穌安放在那裡。

約瑟領了耶穌的遺體，用潔白的細麻布裹好，安放在自己的新墓穴裡，這墓穴是他鑿在岩石裡的。他又滾來一塊大石頭，堵住墓穴口，就離開了。
