虽然祂没有做过残暴之事，口中也没有诡诈，人却将祂与恶人同葬，祂死后葬在富人的墓穴。

耶稣又十分感动地来到坟墓前。那坟墓是个洞，洞口堵着一块大石头。

“你在这里做什么？你凭什么在这里为自己挖坟墓，在高处为自己挖坟墓，在磐石上为自己凿安息之所？

途中她们彼此议论说：“谁能替我们滚开墓口那块大石头呢？”她们抬头一看，那块大石头已经滚到一旁。

突然，大地剧烈地震动，上帝的天使从天而降，推开堵着墓穴的石头，坐在上面。

他把耶稣的遗体从十字架上取下来，用细麻布裹好，然后安放在一个从岩壁上凿出的新墓穴里。

事后，有一个名叫约瑟的亚利马太人请求彼拉多让他为耶稣收尸。他因为畏惧犹太人，只是暗中做耶稣的门徒。彼拉多批准了，他就把耶稣的遗体领去。曾经夜访耶稣的尼哥德慕也来了，他带来了没药和沉香调成的香料，重约三十四公斤。他们按照犹太人殡葬的习俗，用细麻布加上香料把耶稣的遗体裹好。在耶稣被钉十字架的地方有一个园子，里边有一座新坟墓，从来没有安葬过人。因为那天是犹太人的预备日，这座新坟墓也在附近，他们就把耶稣安放在那里。

约瑟领了遗体，用干净的细麻布裹好，安放在他为自己在岩壁上凿出的新墓穴里，并滚来一块大石头封闭墓穴的入口，然后离去。
