Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.

Joseph went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Joseph was from the town of Arimathea. He was a leading member of the Jewish Council. He was waiting for God’s kingdom.

She came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began praising God. She talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem.

but he had not agreed with the decision and actions of the other religious leaders. He was from the town of Arimathea in Judea, and he was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come.

And because of my imprisonment, most of the believers here have gained confidence and boldly speak God’s message without fear.

As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus,

“ So those who are last now will be first then, and those who are first will be last.”

As a result, many Jews believed, as did many of the prominent Greek women and men.

Meanwhile, Peter followed him at a distance and went right into the high priest’s courtyard. There he sat with the guards, warming himself by the fire.

But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.

Meanwhile, Peter was in the courtyard below. One of the servant girls who worked for the high priest came byand noticed Peter warming himself at the fire. She looked at him closely and said,“ You were one of those with Jesus of Nazareth.”But Peter denied it.“ I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said, and he went out into the entryway. Just then, a rooster crowed.When the servant girl saw him standing there, she began telling the others,“ This man is definitely one of them!”But Peter denied it again. A little later some of the other bystanders confronted Peter and said,“ You must be one of them, because you are a Galilean.”Peter swore,“ A curse on me if I’m lying— I don’t know this man you’re talking about!”And immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Suddenly, Jesus’ words flashed through Peter’s mind:“ Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And he broke down and wept.

Afterward Joseph of Arimathea, who had been a secret disciple of Jesus( because he feared the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate for permission to take down Jesus’ body. When Pilate gave permission, Joseph came and took the body away.

Then the Jews stirred up the influential religious women and the leaders of the city, and they incited a mob against Paul and Barnabas and ran them out of town.

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,“ How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!”This amazed them. But Jesus said again,“ Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God.In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!”The disciples were astounded.“ Then who in the world can be saved?” they asked.Jesus looked at them intently and said,“ Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them,“ Rulers and elders of our people,are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed?Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,‘ The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.
