伯鐸祿遙尾耶穌後、入大司祭院宇、與眾僕圍火坐以取暖。

顧多有後來居先。先來居後者焉。』

伯鐸祿在庭下、大司祭一婢亦至其所、見其向火取暖、注視之曰：『爾亦彼納匝勒人耶穌之同道！』伯鐸祿不承曰：『吾不識斯人、亦莫明爾之所云。』遂出至前院、雞初鳴。而婢又見之、顧謂旁立者曰：『此人亦彼同黨。』伯鐸祿又不承。無何、旁立者又謂之曰：『爾確為彼之同黨、蓋爾亦加利利人耳。』伯鐸祿乃且咒且誓曰：『吾實不識爾所云之彼人也！』言甫畢、雞復鳴。伯鐸祿乃憶耶穌「雞未二鳴爾已三不認予」之言。不覺悲從中來、泫然而泣矣。

有亞利瑪大人若瑟者、私淑耶穌、以畏猶太人故、迄未敢公然事之；至是乃具稟比辣多、欲領耶穌遺體；比辣多既准、乃來收屍。

而猶太人則唆聳歸化之貴婦及負時望者、迫辱葆樂、巴拿巴、逐之出境。

耶穌顧謂其徒曰：『難矣哉、富人之進天主國也！』徒異其言。耶穌又曰：『小子、人若恃其財富、而欲進天主之國、不亦難乎！駝經鍼孔、較富人之進天主國猶易。』諸徒益異、而相告曰：『然則誰能獲救乎？』耶穌目之曰：『在人誠不可能、在天主則不然、蓋天主無所不能也。』

伯鐸祿既感聖神、對曰：『民之有司及諸長老！爾曹若為吾儕施恩於殘廢之人、而欲一究其全復之由、則爾與義塞民當知納匝勒人耶穌基督、即爾曹所釘於十字架者、天主已賜以復活。此人之所以能獲康復而挺立於爾前者、賴耶穌之名也。耶穌者即「梓人所棄、竟成隅石」者是。舍彼而外、別無救主；普天之下、更無其他名義、可恃以獲救恩。』眾見伯鐸祿若望侃侃而談、且識其為不學小民、素樸之人、皆不勝驚訝、意必曾親炙耶穌者、
