耶稣熟识的人和从加利利跟着祂来的妇女们都站在远处观看。

有好些妇女在远处观看，她们从加利利就跟随了耶稣，服侍祂。其中有抹大拉的玛丽亚、雅各和约西的母亲玛丽亚以及西庇太两个儿子的母亲。

那时，抹大拉的玛丽亚和另一个玛丽亚坐在坟墓的对面。

还有几个曾被邪灵和疾病缠身、现在已被医治的妇女。其中有抹大拉的玛丽亚，耶稣曾经从她身上赶出七个鬼，还有希律的管家苦撒的妻子约亚拿，此外还有苏撒拿等其他妇女。她们用自己的钱财资助耶稣和门徒。

安息日刚过，周日黎明时分，抹大拉的玛丽亚和另一位玛丽亚一同到坟墓去察看。

耶稣在周日清晨复活后，首先向抹大拉的玛丽亚显现，耶稣曾在她身上赶出七个鬼。

因我的疾病，朋友同伴回避我，亲人远离我。

这不是那木匠的儿子吗？祂母亲不是玛丽亚吗？祂的弟弟不是雅各、约瑟、西门和犹大吗？

难道我们没有权利像主的兄弟、彼得和其他使徒一样，娶信主的姊妹为妻，一同出入吗？

耶稣的十字架旁边站着祂母亲、祂母亲的一个姊妹、革罗罢的妻子玛丽亚和抹大拉的玛丽亚。耶稣看见祂的母亲和祂所爱的门徒都站在旁边，就对母亲说：“妇人，看啊，他是你的儿子。”然后对门徒说：“看啊，她是你的母亲。”从那天起，那个门徒就把她接到自己家里去了。

我是做上帝和主耶稣基督奴仆的雅各，问候散居各地的十二支派的人。

抹大拉的玛丽亚和约西的母亲玛丽亚都亲眼看到了安葬耶稣的地方。过了安息日，抹大拉的玛丽亚、雅各的母亲玛丽亚和撒罗米买了香料，要去抹耶稣的遗体。

我也见了主耶稣的弟弟雅各，此外没有见过其他使徒。

玛丽亚却站在坟墓外面哭泣，边哭边往坟墓里面看，看见两个穿着白衣的天使分别坐在原来安放耶稣遗体的头脚两端。天使对她说：“妇人，你为什么哭呢？”她说：“有人把我的主搬走了，不知道放在什么地方。”说完，她转过身来，看见耶稣站在那里，但她不知道那就是耶稣。耶稣问她：“妇人，你为什么哭？你在找谁？”玛丽亚还以为祂是园丁，就说：“先生，如果是你把祂搬走了，请告诉我放在哪里了，我好搬回来。”耶稣说：“玛丽亚。”玛丽亚立即转过头来用希伯来话对祂说：“拉波尼！”拉波尼的意思是老师。耶稣说：“不要拉着我，我还没有升到父那里。你先去找我的众弟兄，告诉他们我要升天去见我的父，也是你们的父；去见我的上帝，也是你们的上帝。”抹大拉的玛丽亚就去向门徒报讯，说：“我看见主了！”又把主对她说的话告诉门徒。
