祭司諸長、及經士、亦如此戲之、相語曰、彼救他人、不能自救、

大司祭及經生輩亦相與肆其嘲弄曰：『何彼之善於救人、而拙於救己也！

In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves.“ He saved others,” they said,“ but he can’t save himself!

So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying,“ He saved others; he cannot save himself.

The leading priests and teachers of religious law also mocked Jesus.“ He saved others,” they scoffed,“ but he can’t save himself!

In the same way, the chief priests with the scribes were mocking him among themselves and saying,“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself!

In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying,“ He saved others; He cannot save Himself!

Likewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said,“ He saved others; Himself He cannot save.

In like manner also the chief priests mocking him among themselves with the scribes said, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

In the same way, the chief priests with the scribes were mocking Him to one another and saying,“ He saved others; He cannot save Himself!

Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

In the same way even the chief priests– together with the experts in the law– were mocking him among themselves:“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself!

Likewise, also the chief priests mocking among themselves with the scribes said,“ He saved others. He can’t save himself.

The people stood there watching. The rulers even made fun of Jesus. They said,“ He saved others. Let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”The soldiers also came up and poked fun at him. They offered him wine vinegar.They said,“ If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.”

In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders made fun of him.“ He saved others,” they said.“ But he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross! Then we will believe in him.He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him. He’s the one who said,‘ I am the Son of God.’ ”

A group of sinful people has closed in on me. They are all around me like a pack of dogs. They have pierced my hands and my feet.Everyone can see all my bones right through my skin. People stare at me. They laugh when I suffer.

Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin.“ What can we do?” they asked.“ This man is performing many signs.If we let him keep on doing this, everyone will believe in him. Then the Romans will come. They will take away our temple and our nation.”One of the Jewish leaders spoke up. His name was Caiaphas. He was high priest at that time. He said,“ You don’t know anything at all!You don’t realize what is good for you. It is better if one man dies for the people than if the whole nation is destroyed.”He did not say this on his own because he was high priest at that time. He prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation.He also prophesied that Jesus would die for God’s children scattered everywhere. He would die to bring them together and make them one.

Why do the nations plan evil together? Why do they make useless plans?The kings of the earth rise up against the Lord. The rulers of the earth join together against his anointed king.“ Let us break free from their chains,” they say.“ Let us throw off their ropes.”The God who sits on his throne in heaven laughs. The Lord makes fun of those rulers and their plans.

God may want you to suffer for doing good. That’s better than suffering for doing evil.Christ also suffered once for sins. The one who did what is right suffered for those who don’t do right. He suffered to bring you to God. His body was put to death. But the Holy Spirit brought him back to life.

Jesus replied,“ The time has come for the Son of Man to receive glory.What I’m about to tell you is true. Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only one seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
