Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people:[ As for me], I[ had] in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou[ hast been] a man of war, and hast shed blood.

And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.Now upon the first[ day] of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain[ others] with them.And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king’s, saying,Go, enquire of the LORD for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great[ is] the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do after all that is written in this book.And Hilkiah, and[ they] that the king[ had appointed], went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe;( now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college:) and they spake to her to that[ effect].And she answered them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me,Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof,[ even] all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the LORD, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel[ concerning] the words which thou hast heard;Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard[ thee] also, saith the LORD.Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand[ to it]. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that[ pertained] to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve,[ even] to serve the LORD their God.[ And] all his days they departed not from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.

Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen,[ is yet] young and tender, and the work[ is] great: for the palace[ is] not for man, but for the LORD God.Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for[ things to be made] of gold, and the silver for[ things] of silver, and the brass for[ things] of brass, the iron for[ things] of iron, and wood for[ things] of wood; onyx stones, and[ stones] to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver,[ which] I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,[ Even] three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses[ withal]:The gold for[ things] of gold, and the silver for[ things] of silver, and for all manner of work[ to be made] by the hands of artificers. And who[ then] is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD?Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly,And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.And they with whom[ precious] stones were found gave[ them] to the treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed[ be] thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.Thine, O LORD,[ is] the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all[ that is] in the heaven and in the earth[ is thine]; thine[ is] the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.Both riches and honour[ come] of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand[ is] power and might; and in thine hand[ it is] to make great, and to give strength unto all.Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.But who[ am] I, and what[ is] my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things[ come] of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.For we[ are] strangers before thee, and sojourners, as[ were] all our fathers: our days on the earth[ are] as a shadow, and[ there is] none abiding.O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name[ cometh] of thine hand, and[ is] all thine own.I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.

Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.For to[ their] power, I bear record, yea, and beyond[ their] power[ they were] willing of themselves;

Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and wrought[ that which was] good and right and truth before the LORD his God.And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did[ it] with all his heart, and prospered.

Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.And he that saw[ it] bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave[ him] leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound[ weight].Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation[ day]; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling[ unto him] the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.And when he knew[ it] of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.And Mary Magdalene and Mary[ the mother] of Joses beheld where he was laid.And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the[ mother] of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

Thy people[ shall be] willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.
