I will lay down my life for You.”Jesus* replied,“ Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly I say to you, a rooster will not crow until you deny Me three times.

When he had gone out to the gateway, another slave woman saw him and* said to those who were there,“ This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”And again he denied it, with an oath:“ I do not know the man.”

But Peter said to Him,“ Even if they all fall away, yet I will not!”And Jesus* said to him,“ Truly I say to you, that this very night, before a rooster crows twice, you yourself will deny Me three times.”But Peter repeatedly said insistently,“ Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And they all were saying the same thing as well.

And immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him,“ Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And he hurried on and began to weep.
